Cruise On The Willamette River

This morning we left the condo at 9 a.m. to walk to the pier where the Portland Spirit Star was waiting to take us on a lunch cruise to the Willamette Falls in Oregon City.

We were very excited with the anticipation that we would see the Falls from the river as neither of us had ever been there before.

That turned out to be the only disappointment. When we finally reached the falls we learned that this time of the summer there is only a trickle of water cascading over the falls so it wasn't even worth taking a photo.

We still had a great time, however, and I'm showing a few photos. The one with the restaurant in the foreground shows my condo in the background (the shortest of three buildings). The bridge is the Hawthorne Bridge that had to open to let a larger boat continue down the river and the last photo shows some of the house boats that are along the river about six miles from downtown Portland.

The weather has dramatically changed from intense heat to overcast and cool temperatures but none of us are complaining. We're learning to like the cooler weather.
