Loving the snow in Portland ..............

The stairs lead to our outdoor pool. I'm certain that no one is using them for awhile.  I'm looking forward to tomorrow.  I'm going to introduce Bella to her first opportunity to play in the snow.  It will be interesting to see her reaction.  It will also be a good opportunity for me to find some beautiful pictures.  The snow will stay frozen until Sunday when the temperatures will rise above 32 degrees and thawing will begin.

FINALLY - Portland Gets REAL SNOW

Yes, today's snow is deep enough to provide lots of "fuel" for snowball fights and building snowmen.  Generally, downtown Portland gets a couple of inches so we can all go "ooh and ahh" but now it's the real thing.  It has been steadily snowing since about 4 p.m. yesterday.  My weather app shows that it will stop about noon today but the temperature will remain a little under freezing.

Fortunately, Roger and I did a Costco visit yesterday so we're ready to hunker down for the next several days until the snow starts to melt this weekend.  Downtown doesn't get plowed because the city has only a small amount of snow removal equipment.

SO - soup on the stove, fireplace warming the living room and new books to read.  Life is good ....................... This picture was taken from our back balcony.  There's even more snow on the front. The only things moving are an occasional bus with chains on their tires.  MAX is running very slowly because the overhead wires are covered with snow and the sensors are frozen.

"Q" Restaurant - Portland's New IN PLACE

VQ (Veritable Quandry) has been one of our favorite Portland restaurants for years.  Regretfully, they had to close last fall because the county needed the land to build a new courthouse.  Most of the staff and chefs have been hired to open a new restaurant, named "Q".  The owners are new and the atmosphere is now cutting edge but many of the familiar recipes are still being used, with the addition of some fabulous new dishes.

Allison and I tried it for the first time for lunch today and the food is exceptional.  It's number one on our list of favorites!

The picture of dessert is a caramel banana cream tart with chocolate and chopped peanuts.  Good?  Oh,

yessssssss .................
