A Special Fourth !

Even though it was cool weather here in Portland, July 4th was "sizzling" with two great parties and lots of interesting conversation. One of the topics was citizenship and we learned from several people how important being a U.S. citizen is to those who were born in other countries. These people truly love the significance of celebrating living in a free country and we heard emotional stories about how they became a citizen.

The complex hosted a hot dog and burger barbecue and residents brought salads and desserts. It was a buffet delight with many delicious foods to sample. We were entertained with live music, poetry and a patriotic skit. Later in the evening we were invited to a party at Ann's place on the 17th floor so the photos are from her condo. Yes, there was more food (groan) and more live music and the fireworks were amazing from that height.
