Today we visited the Musee Carnavalet that features a history of Paris starting in the sixteenth century. The museum was formerly the Hotel Carnavalet, built in 1578. The grounds are beautifully manicured and the interior rooms are each decorated differently; many furnished with Louis XV furniture, sculptures and oil paintings.
I found the windows to be unusual and beautiful with panes of hand made glass tinted in pastel colors so you can see the buildings and grounds outside. Many of the oil paintings and artifacts were from the French Revolution era so it was especially interesting to me after studying about the French Revolution and Napoleon at PSU.
The museum is located in the Marais district where many artists display their work in shops and galleries so we spent the entire afternoon enjoying the experience. After all that walking, we finished the day with a glass of wine at an outdoor cafe. Now it's time to relax.............
