Iranian Festival In Portland

After breakfast this morning, Roger's son, Brian came to join us for a day at the Portland Iranian Festival. It was held in the park blocks next to the Farmer's Market so we went by streetcar because Brian had never ridden on one and we returned by walking four blocks back to the condo.

The festival is held outdoors and even though it was hot (94 degrees) today, the grass and huge trees plus the soft breeze helped keep us cool (sort of). There were food booths and merchandise for sale so Brian and his dad headed to the markets that sell imported food from Iran and I managed to get to the booths that sold jewelry and scarves. I bought two Pashminas (50% silk) for $20 and a fabulous turquoise necklace with sterling that was handmade.

After eating lunch furnished by the restaurant Pasha, we found chairs to sit while watching dancers and listening to musicians that play instruments from the "old days". For me it was a new and exciting experience and Roger reunited with many friends from when he lived in this area.
